News from Excellence Marketing—

A note from Ken

September 2004

Well, as some of you may have heard, it’s been a busy summer around here. There’s been lots of changes going on at our Company in the past few months, and I felt that with Labor Day signaling the unofficial end of summer, we should get you up to date on all that’s new.

Let’s start with the coolest news—we had two, count them two weddings in the Excellence Marketing family (don’t drink the Eden Prairie water!).

On July 31, yours truly (Ken Simons) walked down the aisle with Rose Cauley and we are now settling into our new life together (along with my 12-year old stepdaughter, Amelia).

Sixteen days later (on August 16), Patrick Gilligan said "I Do" with love-of-his-life Jennifer Wrayge on the island of St. Thomas. It was truly the "Summer of Love" at our place.

For Paul Cassady, the words "summer of our discontent" might be more appropriate. On July 4, Paul celebrated our American Freedom by using the day to remove some tree-branches that were encroaching on his roof. Upon finishing the job, Paul’s ladder slipped out from under him causing him to fall some 12-feet to the concrete below. The injuries were quite serious but we all breathed a sigh of relief to hear that he would recover fully. I am pleased to announce that Paul has now returned to us on an almost full schedule. Paul wishes to acknowledge his gratitude for all of the well-wishes he’s received during his recovery. He tells us he is happy to be to back (and I don’t think he’s kidding!).

We are sad to announce that August brought the departure of Jacqui Kouba ("Jax") from the Company. Those of you who got to work with her during her 1-1/2 year stint with us know that she did a great job taking care of business. Jax had an excellent opportunity come her way and we are truly sorry to see her go. She remains a part of the Excellence Marketing family (literally—she’s now my sister-in-law!).

With her departure, we set about looking for experienced part-time help to fill this vital role. At the same time, my brand new wife made the decision to return to her educational pursuits and reduce her employment to part-time. Thus, we had yet another perfect marriage in the making, and we’re pleased to announce that Rose Simons joined us on September 7 in the role of Office Manager, part-time (Monday-Friday, 10am-3pm). Rose has a resume and background that perfectly suits our Company, with a strong emphasis on customer service and small-business office administration. Her most recent stint was as a technical support person for a telephone systems contractor, so she has pretty thorough understanding of "I need it now". She is all about detail.

All of us at Excellence Marketing welcome the approach of fall and the return of stability to our lives. As always, we are appreciative for the opportunity to serve you and remain committed to offering you the best service by caring about you, your business and your needs. Thanks for your continued support and trust in our Company.

Sincere regards,

Ken Simons
